Description

Most college faculty are expected to publish articles in refereed journals. This course is designed to give you the confidence to submit a manuscript to be considered for publication. You will be provided with knowledge, essential tools, and best practices to give you the skills needed to submit a polished manuscript. We will also discuss how to select the best journal for publication consideration, the preparation of a manuscript, and potential outcomes after submission.

What You Will Learn

Upon successful completion of this micro-course, you will be able to:

  • Select a journal to submit your manuscript.
  • Know the preliminary steps in the preparation of a manuscript.
  • Analyze key parts of your manuscript.
  • Recognize the best practices for submitting your manuscript.
  • Understand the journal manuscript selection process.
  • Examine accepted/rejected manuscript options.
  • Feel comfortable submitting a manuscript to a scholarly refereed journal

  • Must be 18 or older

Course Policies

Grading and Digital Credentials

To successfully complete the course you will need to score 80% or higher on the final quiz. You have unlimited attempts to complete the quiz. Upon successful completion of the quiz, you will receive your digital credential.

Dr. Alan Seidman

Dr. Alan Seidman

Dr. Alan Seidman is founding editor of the Journal of College Student Retention: Research, Theory & Practice, a scholarly, refereed SAGE publication. Now in its 23rd year of publication, it has been the only journal devoted exclusively to college student retention issues. Dr. Seidman is professor emeritus at Walden University and executive director of the Center for the Study of College Student Retention (www.cscsr.org). The center provides retention resources to individuals and educational institutions. He is the recipient of the State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellorâs Award for Excellence in Professional Service and the Walden University Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership Extraordinary Faculty award.
